AEN CXO Interview: Joy Chen “Smart, Hardworking –and Lacking Leadership Skills?”: WHY the AAPI Glass Ceiling Exists, and HOW to Dismantle It

Event time: 3:00-4:30pm EDT / 12:00-1:30pm PDT

Asian Americans are America’s MOST educated group – and the LEAST likely to be promoted into management.  We’re 12% of the workforce, but only 1.5% of Fortune 500 corporate officers.

Why?

No one is more expert to answer this question than our speaker, Joy Chen. Joy is the CEO of JOYOUS, a leading-edge human capital consulting firm. She is a former Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles and Principal at the global executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles. Joy is the DEI expert the Wall Street Journal calls a “Lean-In Guru” and the L.A. Times refers to simply as “The Networker.”

Joy will take us on a riveting examination of how anti-Asian workplace bias combines with clashing cultural norms to limit the careers of all Asian Americans. Most importantly, she’ll show us how, whether Asian American or ally, we each can overcome bias to become a more powerful leader in a multicultural world.

This is a special event for Asian Americans and allies!  Please welcome your mentors and allies!
