AEN Talks: Risk Management of Cryptocurrency

The cryptocurrency industry growth has been highly reliant upon unregulated companies, which raises questions about the level of oversight and proper internal controls. The panel discussion agenda will focus on risk management issues such as unclear regulation, custody, cyber security, volatility and business risk.

Panel Speakers:


Yusuf Hussain
Mr. Yusuf Hussain is the Head of Risk for Gemini Trust Company, LLC. Prior to joining Gemini, Mr. Hussain was a Vice President/Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in the Risk division. Prior to that time, Mr. Hussain was a Manager at Ernst & Young in the Risk Advisory practice. Mr. Hussain earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Macaulay Honors College from the City University of New York.

Rodney Sunada-Wong
Rodney Sunada-Wong is the Chief Risk Officer for Celsius Network, and teaches a grad-level course in Corporate Finance at Columbia University Engineering, and in Modeling Bonds and Securitized Products at NYU’s Courant Institute.

Previously, he was the CRO of Morgan Stanley’s Broker Dealer and Swap Dealers. Prior to that he oversaw market risk for the deposit-taking banks, and the Wealth Management and Global Treasury divisions, and before that, for Merrill Lynch’s deposit-taking banks. Mr. Sunada-Wong began his risk management career at Commodities Corporation (Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Strategies) and at Bankers Trust. He received his MBA in Finance from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, and his AB from Harvard College.

Dr. Kenneth Xu
Dr. Kenneth Xu is a co-founder of Ailares that is a fintech company leveraging AI/ML for managing equity and crypto trading. Dr. Xu is an expert in AI/ML, wealth management and banking. He served previously in executive roles in various Fortune 500 companies including TRowe Price, TD Bank, Capital One. He is also an adjunct professor at Fudan University. He has been active as a speaker in international conferences on the topics of wealth management, crypto currencies, and blockchain.

Dan Chen
Dan is currently the Head of Finance at Nearside, a venture-backed FinTech focused on providing banking services to the 60MM self-employed and micro-business owners. Prior to this role, Dan was the CFO of Blue Foundry Bank, which he successfully completed an IPO on Nasdaq. Other roles have included Treasurer at Cross River Bank, Managing Director at MetLife Investments and Vice President at Morgan Stanley. Dan is a licensed CPA in the State of New York, and lives in New Jersey with his wife, a practicing physician, and their four children. Dan has served on the Board of Directors of Catholic Guardian Services since 2008, where he also chairs the Finance Committee.
